Reciever-in-the-Canal
Hearing Aid

Receiver-in-the-Canal (RIC)

RIC style hearing aids like the BTE devices also rest behind the ear. However, the sound receivers are placed within the canal.  The receiver is housed in a clear soft dome. The hearing aid body behind the ear contains the sound processing chip and Bluetooth technology that processes and transmits the sounds. The RIC style is the most sold globally according to independent research.

Hearing Aid

Behind-the-Ear (BTE)

BTE hearing aids sit comfortably behind your ear. A clear small tube sends the sound from the hearing aid to a small speaker or a custom ear mold that is designed to fit in the ear canal.

In-the-Ear
Hearing Aid

In-the-Ear (ITE)

ITE hearing aid types are made to sit comfortably inside the outer ear. The ITE is safely secured with a perfect fit ear canal mold created by the hearing specialist.

In-the-Canal
Hearing Aid

In-the-Canal (ITC)

ITC hearing aid sits completely inside your ear canal. They are designed to be more discrete than other hearing aid types. Like the ITE hearing aid type, this hearing aid style requires a custom mold of the ear canal to secure it in the ear.

Completely-in-the-Canal
Hearing Aid

Completely-the-Canal (CIC)

The smallest hearing aid available, the CIC hearing aid sits comfortably inside your ear canal, making them invisible to others. New technology for this hearing aid in type in 2017 has removed the need for custom molds to be specially made for this hearing aid style.

CROSHearing Aid

Contralateral Routing Of Signals (CROS)

A CROS hearing aid type is used to treat unilateral hearing loss (One-sided hearing loss or deafness). The CROS device transmits sound from the ear with poorer or no hearing to the ear with better hearing. Most CROS hearing aid types are wireless and are available in behind-the-ear hearing aid types such as BTE and RICs or in custom mold hearing aid types like in-the-ear hearing aids.
